A shopper is dead and another person is critically injured after a shooting at Walmart in Fairfield Township Thursday.The shooting happened at the Walmart store at 3201 Princeton Road just before 8 p.m. Fairfield Township Police said a man, now identified as 32-year-old Anthony Brown, was attempting to steal items from the electronics section of the store when a shopper intervened. The man then pulled away and run toward the front of the store where another shopper tried to stop him. That’s when police said Brown pulled out a handgun and shot and killed the shopper. Another person nearby was also hit by a bullet and taken to the hospital believed to be in critical condition. Police later located the suspect’s vehicle and interviewed a passenger who was in the car. As the investigation continued overnight Friday, police said they later learned Brown may be inside the Fairfield Inn on Roosevelt Parkway in Middletown. During a search of the building, Brown jumped out of a first floor window and attempted to run from the area, dropped a handgun and was placed under arrest.Brown was taken to Butler County Jail on multiples felonies including aggravated robbery, aggravated murder and having weapons under disability.Additional charges may be pending, police said.The case remains under investigation, police said.
