“Stone Eden Farm,” which has been owned by three families since the original land grant was deeded from Lord Fairfax in 1765, is new on the market for $1,695,000.
Located at 17889 Sands Road in Hamilton, the 13-acre property is near the Village of Lincoln and is home to the annual Loudoun County Sheep Drive. It consists of two parcels – a nine-acre lot which includes the house, barns and agricultural buildings and the second parcel which is 4.21 acres and is a buildable lot, according to listing agent Keren Jayne of Pearson Smith Realty.
A spring-fed creek runs through the entire property, she added.
The original home was built in 1765 with two additions in 1817 and 2013. The 2013 addition was an 1870s reconstructed log home brought to the property from West Virginia, Jayne said.
On the main level of the home, there is an open-concept kitchen, living and dining spaces and a family room. In addition, there are two multipurpose rooms on the main level and two mudrooms.
On the upper level, there is an owner’s suite which features a walk-in closet, attached dressing room or nursery and a large bathroom with a claw foot tub, separate shower and dual vanities.
There is a wide hallway which leads to two bedrooms which have been upgraded with built-in wardrobes, spacious closets and a full bathroom.
Each room, with the exception of one of the bedrooms, has a functional wood-burning fireplace, totaling seven fireplaces, Jayne said.
The other buildings on the property include an 1869 Reconstruction Period bank barn. The barn has been renovated and holds four large rooms, currently set up with two offices, a storage room and a bedroom and bathroom.
The lofts are also accessible for storage or workspace.
Also on the property is an agricultural-use barn with a birthing wing, livestock space and a horse stall; a “butcher” building; a covered pavilion; a chicken coop and several other structures.
The heating system is hydronic, Jayne said, which uses a combination of radiators and radiant floor heat fueled by propane with an alternative outdoor wood boiler. The cooling system is a combination of forced air and window units.
Jayne said the home has been updated with technology such as high-speed internet and it is close to the towns of Purcellville and Hamilton.
“The current owners are in the business of restoring historic properties,” she said. “This is a versatile property and has so much history and unique features.”
There is an open house from 1-3 p.m. on May 14. For more information, contact Jayne at 703-894-7309.
